Review: Original Xiaomi Speaker 4.0

And here we are again with another Xiaomi equipment.

This speaker comes in a simple box, with a completely different design than the one I've analysed before. 

First impressions

This sound speaker has instructions in Chinese but you will find it really simple to work with considering it only has as on/off button.

It's a white sound speaker with an aluminium frame and a plastic front and back.

Bellow the speaker, there are two rubber small feet.

On the right side there is a microUSB entrance, the on/off button and a led that shows us if the Bluetooth is paired, or not:
- If the led blinks blue and red that means that it's not paired. To make sure it's paired, it can only bilk the blue light (every 2 seconds).
When your charging the speaker, the light presents itself in a red color.

Even though it looks and sounds more expensive, this speaker costs around 16-20$.

Sound quality

This is a "stereo" with 2 x 2.5W speakers.

It can reproduce very good quality sound in general and very satisfying bass sound. 

It improves significantly the sound that comes of a tablet or smartphone and because it has two incorporated speakers (even though they are close together) you can perceive the "stereo" effect when you are watching TV Series or movies.    

Battery

This speaker is equipped with a 1200mAH sound speaker and it lasted 6-7 hours a day, for three days, with the volume around 15-20% - If using the sound on a higher level, it should last what is said on the specifications, which is 10 hours.

It is charged by the use of a microUSB cable (not included), by connecting it to the computer or a cellphone charger.

It took around 4 hours to be fully charged (which seemed very reasonable to me considering the type of battery and the specifications). 

Bluetooth

It says in the specifications that the Bluetooth works up until 10 meters, which is true, if we are in a strait line and able to see the speaker.

If we use it inside our house, it depends on the obstacles (it works from one room to another but if you distance yourself a bit more, you will have interference and loose sound quality).
I've tested the connection with Windows 8.1, Android 5.1 and Windows Phone and it worked fine with all the devices . You just have to turn the sound speaker on and look for the device "Mi Bluetooth Speaker”, pair it and it's ready to be used. 

Button functions

The On/Off button can be used to connect the device and to pause the music that's playing.
It has one disadvantage comparing to other speakers because you can't control the volume of the sound or choose another song directly on the sound speaker.

- It doesn't have a manual in english (but considering it only has one button it's not to difficult to understand the device)
- We can control the volume directly in the speaker

Conclusion

This is a good speaker, with good sound and good basses. Considering the size and compact look of the speakers, I was very surprised with it's potency.

It's the right speaker to have when you want to hear some music and/or see movies/tv shows on you mobile device.

When comparing to the previous analysis from the other Xiaomi speaker, I can say that they are very similar, meaning that you will have to choose one depending one the style that you feel more identified with.

If I had too point a main difference between both of them, I would say that this one has a slightly better bass sound and better sound volume (5W vs 3W). However, it's battery will last a bit less.
